Created in 2007 in honor of B.J. Kennedy, MD, this award and lectureship recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the research, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in the elderly, and in bringing an understanding of geriatric oncology to fellows and junior faculty.

The award consists of an honorarium, a commemorative plaque, and support to the recipient to attend the ASCO Annual Meeting. The recipient then delivers a 30-minute lecture at the ASCO Annual Meeting.

The award recipient must agree to be interviewed by the ASCO Daily News and will also need to provide the abstract of the presentation for Annual Meeting materials.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 Special Awards. Submissions are due by July 9, 2018. Visit the nomination portal to submit your nominations.

"Precision medicine has begun to transform the lives of many patients with cancer, but its application in clinical practice is enormously complex. ASCO hopes to contribute to and advance the field by providing oncologists with the training, tools, and data they need."
