2020 Advocacy Priorities Aim to Help People with Cancer Access High-Quality Care

June 9, 2020

Earlier this month, the Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Board approved its 2020 Advocacy Priorities, which will help ensure that patients with cancer and survivors have access to value-based, high-quality cancer care. The overarching goals of the priorities are to:

  • Ensure access to affordable health care for cancer patients and survivors by preventing policies that limit access to care
  • Promote quality and efficiency of care by advancing policies that will streamline oncology care reimbursement and reduce administrative burden for providers
  • Support patient participation in clinical research by expanding eligibility criteria, ensuring all Medicaid programs cover routine care costs of clinical trials, and robustly funding National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, and Food and Drug Administration
