The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) unveiled an interactive look-up tool where 2017 advanced alternative payment model (APM) participants can look up whether or not they are a Qualifying APM Participant (QP), based on claims from Jan 1, 2017—March 31, 2017. The tool will soon be updated to include claims through June 20, 2017.
QPs under the Quality Payment Program (QPP), which was established by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, are clinicians whose APM participation meets certain criteria and exempts them from the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System—the other quality reporting program within QPP. Qualifying QPs, based on the 2017 performance year, will receive a 5 percent lump sum Medicare incentive payment in 2019.
For more information, read the CMS Methodology Fact Sheet to learn how the agency determines QP Status and the supplemental service payments fact sheet, which explains the supplemental service payments included in APM Incentive Payment calculations.
