August 6, 2018

The agenda for the 2018 ASCO Oncology Practice Conference (OPC) has been finalized. The conference will take place September 27, 2018, at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Ariz., and registration is open. The hotel reservation and early registration deadline is August 22 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).

The conference is designed to address challenges that oncology practices face by discussing best practices and strategies to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care. As OPC Planning Committee Chair Robin Zon, MD, FACP, FASCO, who opened last year’s conference, stated, “Oncology practices face many challenges in the current dynamic environment. The goal of the ASCO Oncology Practice Conference is to address these issues by sharing best practices and strategies to preserve the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care.”

The OPC program includes sessions on finance, technology, policy and tools, and advanced models for delivering quality cancer care. The event will be organized into four general sessions, each comprised of an expert panel with time for questions and answers at the end. The four sessions are:

  • Advanced Models for Delivering Quality Cancer Care in Competitive Markets
  • Considerations in Value Based Care and Learning in the Oral Pharmacy Space
  • Policy and Tools to Improve Patient Care
  • Technology Disrupting the Delivery of Care.

In addition, keynote speaker A. Mark Fendrick, MD, from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, will present his lecture, “Value-Based Insurance Design in Cancer Care—Right Drug, Right Person, Right Time, Right Price.”

The ASCO OPC will be followed by the 2018 ASCO Quality Care Symposium, also taking place at the JW Marriot Phoenix Desert Ridge from September 28-29, 2018. The hotel reservation and early registration deadline for both the OPC and Quality Care Symposium is August 22 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).
