Medical Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists Now Able to Meet All Federal Reporting Requirements Through QOPI Reporting Registry

January 18, 2018

ASCO and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) have launched their new, joint platform for quality reporting, making it easier for oncologists to comply with federal government reporting requirements in 2018. The new QOPI® Reporting Registry, a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR), now makes it possible for any practice with at least one active ASCO or ASTRO member to report their quality performance data either electronically or manually, based on their preference.

This registry is the latest collaboration between ASCO and ASTRO and builds on the societies’ ongoing efforts to develop quality measures to improve patient care. Currently, the Societies are working together to identify and develop new quality measures to further enhance the robust set of measures available through the QOPI® Reporting Registry.

Under the quality reporting category, the 2018 registry currently offers 25 quality measures from which to choose. Practices are required to select six measures to report on for at least 60% of their patients in 2018. In addition, the new registry will enable practices to attest to their participation in the two other federally required categories, “Advancing Care Information” and “Improvement Activities.”

To comply with the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) as required by CMS, practices must earn a minimum of 15 MIPS points to avoid lower reimbursement for 2020. Practices earning more than 15 points may be eligible to receive higher reimbursement.

Using the QOPI® Reporting Registry, practices can now choose to report electronically, using their electronic health records, or manually, through a web-based platform.

Practices may sign up for their preferred reporting option by going to https://qcdr.asco.org/signup/Login.aspx. Existing QOPI® practices are able to login with their current QOPI® credentials. Practices that are not participating in QOPI® yet may sign up to receive credentials by selecting “New Sign Up” and entering the required information. A Sign Up Portal User Guide is available here. In addition, a webinar demonstrating how to sign up using either the electronic Systems Integrated Approach or the manual Web Interface Tool is now available.
