ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Two studies examine different issues related to patient participation in clinical trials. One study investigates the relationship between participation in a clinical trial and overall survival in patients with advanced lung cancer. The second study discovers and explores a discrepancy between providers’ and patients’ perceived barriers to clinical trial participation. Authors will present their findings at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO) upcoming Quality Care Symposium, taking place September 6–7, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. —  A registry that tracks the quality of medical care provided to patients receiving cancer treatment launched this month as part of a collaboration between the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). In addition to improving the quality of care for people living with cancer, the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Reporting Registry also makes it easier for medical and radiation oncologists to report quality-related performance metrics required by the federal government.

(ASCO®) has announced that the first three practices in Spain have received Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) certification through QOPI Certification Program™, LLC (QCP). The accreditations were given today at the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2017 Congress in Madrid, Spain.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- QOPI Certification Program LLC (QCP), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Inc. (ASCO) that runs the QOPI Certification Program™, and the Foundation for Excellence and Quality in Oncology (ECO), a nonprofit foundation in Spain, have launched an effort to expand the QOPI Certification Program to Spain. Through the collaboration between ECO and QCP, Spanish oncology practices will be able to apply for QOPI Certification.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – A new collaboration between the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) will enable participants of ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) and the QOPI Certification Program (QCP) to receive Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Practice Assessment points from ABIM.
