Program Description
ASCO's Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI® ) is an oncologist-led, practice-based quality improvement program.
QOPI’s goal is to promote excellence in cancer care by helping practices create a culture of self-examination and improvement. The process employed for improving cancer care includes measurement, feedback and improvement tools for medical oncology practices.
Benefits of Participation The benefits of QOPI participation include:
Knowledge of practice strengths and weaknesses
Access to tools and strategies to improve care
Demonstrable participation in a respected quality improvement program
Data collected can be used to complete ABIM's Self-directed Practice Improvement Module and satisfy the practice performance improvement requirement for Maintenance of Certification
CME credits
Potential recognition by health plans
Practices must be registered to participate in data collections. New practices can register for QOPI at any time, but should register at least one month prior to the start of the data collection round to receive notifications via email regarding training and materials for the data collection.
The Fall 2008 data collection is scheduled for October 16 through November 20. Training calls and web demos will begin in late September. The specific dates and times for training will be posted in the web-based application.
