- February 15 Presscast to Highlight Notable Research -

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Three key studies from the 2011 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium will be presented in an embargoed presscast (press briefing via live webinar) for reporters on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, from 12:00-1:30 PM (EST). Highlighted research will feature new information on the screening, treatment and management of genitourinary cancers.

During the Presscast, researchers will present the following studies:

  • A large, randomized, European prostate cancer screening study of middle-aged and elderly men that examined the minimum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) score needed for biopsy
  • Results of a new study evaluating whether a commonly used drug could be used to slow the growth of early-stage prostate cancer
  • Results of a retrospective analysis to determine the surgical learning curve for robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP) operations

The multidisciplinary Symposium will focus on a variety of genitourinary cancers including prostate, renal, penile and testicular cancers. Taking place February 17-19, 2011, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida, this year’s symposium will feature more than 400 scientific and educational abstracts and attract more than 1,700 attendees.

Three leading medical specialty societies co-sponsor the symposium, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO).

A working newsroom will be available onsite at the meeting for reporters. Experts will be available for comment and perspective upon request.
