Federal funding for cancer research has decreased by $500 million over the past 5 years when adjusted for inflation. I support the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s call for Congress to increase funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

Funding should keep pace with medical research inflation, reverse the effects of flat funding, and help researchers pursue urgently needed medical breakthroughs.
