Widely recognized as a national leader on public policy issues related to high quality cancer care, effective medical and continuing education for cancer care professionals, and a strong clinical research enterprise, ASCO has issued an ambitious 2013-2014 policy agenda that will guide advocacy efforts across a wide spectrum of legislative and regulatory activities.
Developed by ASCO’s Government Relations Committee and adopted by its Board of Directors, the policy agenda reflects myriad challenges facing the oncology community within the current political environment.
Four overarching goals will help dictate ASCO’s work on legislative and regulatory issues:
- Achieve a fair, adequate and stable payment environment for oncology practice;
- Ensure all cancer patients have access to high quality cancer care;
- Enhance and streamline meaningful quality reporting and practice improvement;
- Advocate for appropriate funding for the federal agencies that support cancer research and drug development.
