ASCO Promotes and Provides For

ASCO is supported by its affiliate organization, the Conquer Cancer Foundation, which funds groundbreaking research and programs that make a tangible difference in the lives of people with cancer.

Membership

ASCO’s diverse network of more than 40,000 oncology professionals recognizes ASCO's dedication to provide the highest-quality resources in education, policy, the pioneering of clinical research, and above all, advancing the care for patients with cancer. ASCO is unique in that we are the only organization that encompasses all oncology subspecialties, allowing our members to grow from the professional and personal expertise of their colleagues worldwide and across disciplines. International members make up approximately 30% of the Society’s total membership and represent more than 120 countries. ASCO offers a variety of membership categories designed to fit your career stage and specific needs. ASCO offers numerous membership categories and benefits.

Organization

ASCO is governed by a Board of 19 members, including a President-Elect, President, Chair of the Board (seat to be filled starting in 2019), Treasurer, Past President, and 14 Directors. The ASCO Chief Executive Officer and the Chair of the Conquer Cancer Foundation Board of Directors have non-voting seats on the ASCO Board.

The Society conducts the majority of its business through various volunteer groups comprised of ASCO members who volunteer their time and effort to Society programs. Leaders of patient advocacy groups are often active in ASCO volunteer groups as well. There are currently 18 standing committees (plus numerous editorial boards, task forces, panels, and working groups) that are managed and supported by ASCO’s full-time staff. ASCO is a charitable, educational, and scientific organization classified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
