Electronic Health Records (EHR) Lab at the 2008 Annual Meeting

Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are powerful tools that can streamline practice management and reduce errors in patient care. To help Annual Meeting attendees learn about and select EHR technologies appropriate for their practices, ASCO sponsored a 2nd Annual EHR Lab at its 2008 Annual Meeting.

At the 2008 ASCO Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, attendees had another opportunity to get hands-on experience with the latest EHR technology. Vendors demonstrated the capacity of their products to provide clinical decision support using:

1) Chemotherapy Order Entry Regimens and Patient Safety Principles
2) White Blood Cell Growth Factors Guideline Orders and Flow Sheet
3) Drug, Dose & Schedule Recommendations for Antiemetics Regimens
4) Breast Cancer Treatment Plan and Treatment Summary

Vendor Directory

In addition to the vendor demonstrations, experts were available onsite to answer questions attendees had about the adoption and use of electronic health records technology. Members of ASCO's EHR Workgroup that produced The Oncology EHR Field Guide, have provided commentary on several EHR topics below.
