Electronic Health Records (EHR)

ASCO supports the adoption of electronic health records (EHR) and other technology to improve the quality of cancer care. The ASCO Health Information Technology (HIT) Work Group, comprised of oncologist volunteers, directs ASCO's HIT initiatives.  For questions about these activities, e-mail ehr@asco.org.

Help with EHR Selection, Installation, and Adoption: Installing an EHR can be complicated. ASCO has assembled several resources to help oncologists with the many issues surrounding EHR adoption.

Understanding the Government Incentive Programs: The federal government has two incentive programs. These aim to increase the adoption of e-prescribing and the meaningful use of EHRs.

Recommended HIT Standards and Policy Positions:
ASCO has worked to set technical standards for EHRs and also been actively commenting on government legislation.

Health IT Tools: Technology that may help your practice and improve the quality of care.
