Since 2004, ASCO has offered complimentary exhibit booth space to its Affiliates at the Annual Meeting. Attendees can learn about the activities of their respective state oncology societies, apply for membership, and network with colleagues. Affiliates who participate are able to network with other state society presidents and executive directors, as well as, with representatives who support their society's programs.
Staff and physician volunteers from participating societies are on hand to represent their organizations, interact with members, and discuss the benefits of becoming involved with issues affecting oncology professionals at the state/regional level. Participating in the Booth is an opportunity to show attendees the value of being the voice of oncology in their specific state.
ASCO staff is present to discuss the services offered through the State/Regional Affiliate Program, including practice and reimbursement assistance; legislative, regulatory, and media activities; meetings and education services; membership recruitment; web site development; and the State Affiliate Grant Program. Staff will also represent those societies unable to send individual representatives to the Meeting in emphasizing the importance of state society membership and participation.
NEW! In 2011 the State Oncology Societies Booth hosted the inaugural series of the
Meet the Leader sessions.
Meet the Leader was designed to encourage ASCO members, and especially those from the state affiliates, to bring forward their concerns, problems, inquiries, suggestions and leadership potential. These limited but focused discussions added both a respite and grassroots input during the busy Annual meeting. Topics of discussion included:
