Program Description
ASCO's Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI® ) is an oncologist-led, practice-based quality improvement program.
QOPI’s goal is to promote excellence in cancer care by helping practices create a culture of self-examination and improvement. The process employed for improving cancer care includes measurement, feedback and improvement tools for medical oncology practices.
Benefits of Participation
The benefits of QOPI participation include:
- Knowledge of practice strengths and weaknesses
- Access to tools and strategies to improve care
- Demonstrable participation in a respected quality improvement program
- Data collected can be used to complete ABIM's Self-directed Practice Improvement Module and satisfy the practice performance improvement requirement for Maintenance of Certification
- CME credits
- Potential recognition by health plans
Practices must be registered to participate in data collections. New practices can register for QOPI at any time, but should register at least one month prior to the start of the data collection round to receive notifications via email regarding training and materials for the data collection.
The Spring 2008 data collection is scheduled for May 1 - June 5. The Fall 2008 data collection is tentatively scheduled for mid October through late November.
