ASCO's PATIENT WEBSITE OFFERS REALTIME ADVICE ON CARING FOR A LOVED ONE WITH CANCER
--Live Web Event on People Living With Cancer (www.plwc.org)
Scheduled May 10, 2006 from 2:00-3:00 PM (EDT)--
Alexandria, VA -- When a loved one has cancer, it can be difficult to know how to provide meaningful support. From cooking meals to helping dispense medications, friends and family are often a vital extension of the professional health-care team. The role of caregiver doesn’t come with instructions and can be a source of constant stress and anxiety. To help those in caregiving roles, ASCO will have a live expert available on PLWC to answer questions on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM (EDT).
Caregivers and others interested in this topic are encouraged to submit their questions to www.plwc.org either before or during this web event hosted by Betty Ferrell, PhD, FAAN, of the City of Hope National Medical Center. The range of potential topics includes:
- Managing caregiving responsibilities
- How caregivers can take care of themselves
- The role of the caregiver in the professional health-care team
- Exploring different caregiving options
- Working together as a family to provide care
- Long distance caregiving
